“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” (1 Peter 1:3-5)
Followers of the Lord Jesus, may today be characterized by our praise to God for eternal life. We have many reasons to praise Him. In accordance with His great mercy He has caused us to be born again. You and I did not give ourselves new life. God caused our new birth (see also John 1:12-13). It is a gift from God that we do not deserve. It is not the result of our works. It is a gift of mercy because through Christ God withheld the judgment we deserve. This new birth is to a living hope. We have a living confidence. Our future salvation from the presence of sin is certain because of Jesus Christ. It is through His resurrection that we have new life. This new birth is to an inheritance that will never die, never be defiled, and will never fade away. It is being kept in heaven for us by God who is also keeping us by His power through faith in Him. He is guarding us for the final and ultimate salvation that will be revealed in the last time.
We have so many reasons to praise the Lord!
