Our family has had the privilege of attending a conference at a sister church in our town. The conference is a ministry of Leadership and Laity which you can learn more about here.
Dr. Jim Orrick is one of the main speakers. He preached the opening message yesterday evening and his topic was “Our God Speaks.” He took us to Hebrews 1 and showed us what God has said in the fact that Christ sat down. The message was powerful. I am thankful I could sit under the preaching of the Gospel.
Dr. Orrick pointed our attention to Hebrews 1:9 where it says of Christ, “You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness…” He said that this is a description of holiness. We often view holiness as the things we don’t do. But holiness is much more than avoiding certain things. It is also about pursuing other things. It is about hating sin, but it is also about loving righteousness. It is mainly about loving what God says is right and good.
