Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord!
Psalm 31:24
Strength and courage are not qualities we can conjure up in ourselves. Only those who wait for the Lord renew their strength and soar (Isaiah 40:31).
Closely connected to waiting for the Lord is devotion to prayer. When the believers waited for the Holy Spirit, they devoted themselves to prayer (Acts 1:14).
It is the saint who realizes that he is weak who will cry out to the Lord and wait on him to work. It is the saint who is afraid who will look to the Lord and find courage in divine strength.
Wait for the Lord for it is in him you will find strength and courage.
