Father, we live in a broken world, and we are broken people. We are thankful that Christ is gentle and lowly toward the weary and heavy laden who come to him. Broken as we are, he promises to give us rest when we come to him. (1) Indeed, in your gracious wisdom, it is our very brokenness that qualifies us to come. (2) So, may we come to Jesus again and again for rest and know we will not be turned away. Comfort us with the truth that Christ is coming, and he will bring new heavens and a new earth where righteousness dwells. (3) All things will be made new, and all will be made right in the mended world. (4) Amen.

- Thank you to Dane Ortlund. I have found this theme in all the books I have read by him.
- 2 Peter 3:13
- This is an adaptation of a quote from The Green Ember Series by S.D. Smith. There is a refrain throughout the books, “It will not be so in the mended wood.” I love that statement and have adapted it to express my eschatological hope in Christ: “It will not be so in the mended world.”
