Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we … Continue reading God Comforts Us In All Our Affliction

Poured Out For Christ
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:6–7 The setting was stunning in the most negative sense. Paul was in a dark, cold, dirty pit … Continue reading Poured Out For Christ
He Restores My Soul – A Prayer from Psalm 23:3a
The following post is a slightly edited prayer that was originally published on May 3, 2020… “Lord, You restore our souls. You have turned our souls to You by Your Word. Crisis, Suffering, Hope, Writing
I wanted to take a few minutes to share why I have been writing so much in this time of suffering. My blogging journey has been anything but consistent. I have set schedules and goals, but I always find that the needs of family and pastoral ministry make blogging seem less important. Let me also … Continue reading Crisis, Suffering, Hope, Writing
Shared Grief
In my last post, I discussed that there are different kinds of grief. Each kind of grief is different. A person can only know the grief of losing a father when they have personally experienced it. The Lord’s Model Prayer: Our Father (Matthew 6:9-13)
The following post is from a Wednesday evening small group study on the Lord's Model Prayer. This was taught on March 13, 2024. This is a transcript produced from my lesson notes, so it will read differently than a typical blog post.
I Can’t!
I was recently helping my kids with their art lesson. We were using a how-to-draw video lesson from Creature Kids. My school-aged kids and I were drawing lions, and my four year old son wanted to join in the lesson. It didn't take long for him to be frustrated. Frustration led to a tearful shout, "Daddy, I can't do it!"
March 31, 2024 Is Resurrection Sunday
March 31 is Resurrection Sunday this year. It is a day set aside for Jesus Christ's followers to remember and celebrate that our Lord and Savior rose again from the dead. Actually, every Sunday is set aside for worship and celebration of the resurrection (Luke 24:1; Acts 20:7). The Lord Jesus Christ has died and … Continue reading March 31, 2024 Is Resurrection Sunday
The Lord Has Laid Our Iniquities on Him
Our iniquity (sin) was laid on the Lord Jesus that we might have peace, that we might be healed, and that we might be brought to the God we once rebelled against. God the Son faced the punishment sinners deserve so that all who call on his name are saved.
