Father,
Judges 17:6 says, “In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” This is our great sin. We have forsaken Your way and gone our own. This was the sin of Adam and Eve at the first. It is our continual sin to do what is right in our own eyes. It is the essence of idolatry.
We confess that our own way leads to unbridled passions and destruction. It leads to idolatry, sexual sins (hidden and open), envy, hatred, murder, theft, lying, and all kinds of sin.
Forgive and cleanse us. Expose sin so it is confessed and forsaken. Enable us to continually look to Jesus in faith. He knew no sin, but He was made sin for us in His death for us. He has clothed us in His own righteousness through faith. Enable us to walk worthy of this calling. Enable us to continually forsake our own way and trustingly submit to You.
Please rescue our friends and family who are enslaved to sin. Please turn them from their rebellious way to Your way by the regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit.
Amen (Judges 16-18; Genesis 3; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 4:1; Titus 3:5)
