These are notes for the adult Sunday School class at First Baptist Church of Ticonderoga, NY on October 11, 2026.
- A Word on Interpreting Prophecy – Nahum wrote as if the destruction of Nineveh happened right in front of him. Some wrongly say this means Nahum 2 is not a prophecy. Nahum wrote Nahum 2 as if it happened right in front of him because this prophecy came to him in the form of a vision (Nahum 1:1).
- The Taunt – A Call to Defend the City (2:1)
- The Restoration of Jacob (2:2)
- The Future Destruction Described as if Present (2:3-9)
- I Am Against You – the Lion’s Pride Is Destroyed (2:10-13)
- Connecting Nahum 2 to the Story of Redemption
- The Christian’s Current Situation and Future Hope (1 Peter 5:10-11)
- There Is a Coming Judgment (Acts 17:30-31)
- The Only Place of Refuge Is the Lord Himself (Nahum 1:7)
Let’s Consider the Following:
1. Why do some people say that Nahum 2 was written after the destruction of Nineveh?
2. Why did Nahum write this section as if it happened right in front of him?
3. What is something that you learned in Nahum 2?
4. How does this section make you think of the coming judgment, your lost loved ones, your own salvation, and the gift of salvation in Christ?
