I read Genesis 6 in my Bible reading this morning. I noticed a very important order in verses 8-9. Noah found favor in God’s sight (v. 8) THEN we are told he walked in righteousness (v 9). His right living did not find favor. As a matter of fact, the context tells us that all flesh was corrupt (“man” and “all” includes Noah in verses 5 and 12). God reached down in favor (v. 8), then Noah walked with God (v. 9). God made a covenant with Noah (vv. 13-21), then Noah did all the Lord commanded (v. 22).
“LORD, thank You that grace comes first, and walking with You is the result of grace. As recipients of Your grace through Jesus Christ may we walk with You in grace. Amen”
