Prayer from 1 Peter 1:22-25

Father,

Our souls have been purified by obedience to Your eternal Gospel to serve as Your priests. Part of this priestly duty is to love our brothers and sisters in Christ with a love that is not hypocritical. When we love our brothers and sisters in sincerity it is a priestly act of worship to You.

We have been born again through the unfading message of your love displayed in the death of Your Son for our sins. This indestructible Gospel has placed us into Your forever family. It is no figure of speech or mere picture to say that we are brothers and sisters in Christ. We share the same Holy Spirit, the same Savior, and the same Heavenly Father. We truly are an eternal family with blood ties deeper than physical ancestry. It is the blood of Jesus Christ that has created this relational connection. We have been made Your children and one another’s siblings that we may love one another earnestly from a pure heart.

As a gift of Your grace would You produce in each one of a us a real love with proper motives for our brothers and sisters in Christ? Please do this work in us, so the world will know that we are Jesus’ followers and Your name will be glorified.

In the Precious Name of Jesus,

Amen
