God the Father has blessed us with EVERY blessing of the Spirit IN CHRIST as He planned and promised to Abraham (Genesis 22:17-18; Galatians 3:16).

  1. Chosen…
    • How: In Christ
    • When: Before foundations of the world
    • Purpose:
      • Holy (set apart)
      • Blameless
      • In the direct, concentrated gaze of God
    • In Love
  2. Adopted in Christ…
    • When: Predestined – marked out before
    • How: Through Christ
    • Sonship:
      • Brought into the family (but more!)
      • As an adult heir
      • Having all the rights, privileges, and responsibilities of a full-grown heir
    • Why – God’s delight! (“…according to the pleasure of his will…” – NET; ISV)
  3. Accepted in Christ…
    • Blessed = Accepted or “graced”
    • How: In the Beloved (Matthew 3:17; 17:5)
    • United to the Beloved Son of God, we are the beloved children of God (cf. John 1:10-12).

God has saved us IN and THROUGH CHRIST… TO THE PRAISE OF HIS GLORIOUS GRACE! (Verse 6)
