Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
John 5:24

I have been reading Full Assurance by Harry Ironside. I was greatly encouraged by his explanation of the “five links” in Jesus’ statement. “Heareth… believeth… hath… shall not… is passed.”(1)

These are definite statements from Jesus. The one who truly listens to Jesus’ message and believes on the One who sent Jesus definitely has eternal life. This person does not come into condemnation but has definitely passed from death unto life.

Blessed assurance, indeed.
