Prayer From 1 Kings 10-11

Father,

Solomon was greatly blessed. He had everything. He had riches and power and wisdom. Yet, in the end, he had nothing. While he kept the riches, he turned from You. He did not trust You. He disobeyed your commands. He took hundreds of wives as if they were possessions. He followed after their gods. His heart turned away. He had everything but nothing.

Yet, You were faithful to Your promises. Even in judgement, You kept the promise You made to David. You have brought the King, David’s Lord and Descendant, who sits on David’s throne forever. There will be no end to His kingdom. While His ancestors failed, the Lord Jesus never fails.

As we consider Solomon’s failure and Jesus’ perfect obedience, may we rest in Jesus. As we observe Your faithfulness, may we be strengthened by Your grace. Train us by Your grace to live for You as Your special people.

Lord Jesus, You have died for this purpose, and You will accomplish it!

AMEN (1 Kings 10-11; 2 Samuel 7; Luke 1:31-33; Titus 2:11-14; Philippians 1:6)
