Trust in the Lord Not a President – A Short Reminder

“Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation. When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish.” Psalm 146:3-4

We need to keep a biblical focus as the election is underway. There are so many who are placing their confidence in the presidential candidates. Perhaps you find yourself with this misplaced trust.

Then again there are others who are living in a constant state of despair over who they think will win this election. Maybe that’s you.

May we find direction and encouragement from what God says. God reminds us not to put our trust in rulers. They are finite. They are mortal. They are human like we are. They will have their glory days then die like we all do. Then their plans will come to an end. None of them can save us or themselves. There is only one Savior – His name is Jesus.

As we move into this next presidential term, let’s say with the Psalmist, “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God” (Psalm 20:7).

Some trust in presidents, military strength, policies and elections, “but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”
